What clients are saying:

 FAQs

  • All health coaching sessions are virtual video calls through the Practice Better client portal. The duration of each call will be specified on signup depending on which package is selected. Each meeting will be followed up with an email which includes a recap of major points, as well as the priorities, goals and potential topics for next meeting.

Initial meetings would consist of clearly defining what your tangible health goals are, how we can quantify them, and why you genuinely feel motivated to pursue them. Knowing and exploring your why and saying it out loud to someone is powerful.

We would then move onto what you may already know you should (or shouldn’t) be doing in pursuit of embodying your current health goals, but also why it has been difficult to enact or stick to.

Then ultimately, we create (together) any custom plans/action steps for you to take on your end, discuss your proposed timeframe to do so, and meet regularly to track, modify and celebrate your progress (or lessons learned). All with the communication, resources and guidance to succeed where so many have failed on their own before.

Accountability. Support. Encouragement. Resources. Someone who knows your name and wants you to succeed.

  • Simply show up to the virtual calls with an earnest, open mindset and ready to discuss your health, lifestyle, or anything that affects your wellness. We will connect the dots, potentially discuss some of the science, and ensure you feel empowered to make the next best decision.

You are encouraged to show up with questions, updates, notes, or anything else you’d like more information on - but can also email those my way ahead of time.

NOTE: Showing up to calls in a quiet environment, free of distractions, to allow us to discuss personal topics (if needed) is recommended. Having a pen and paper to take notes as needed is completely up to you, as I will recap the larger takeaways, connections and follow up with resources we want to incorporate. Taking video calls while driving is prohibited.

  • That depends entirely on what each client may need. As a health coach it is not in my scope or prerogative to force the same protocols, regimens, or diet plans onto each client - as so many other conventional providers may do!

This process is customized to you. So as long as you request (or we agree that I have permission) to send certain information to you, I can provide anything from nutritional guides to helpful product recommendations to breathwork practices to long form podcasts/videos that help us feel confident we are on the right path and understand the science/strategy.

Being trained and certified through a IFM (Institute of Functional Medicine) affiliated program gives me access and strategies consistent with “root cause reversal”. As in, resolving the source of the problem instead of solely managing symptoms. This will be reflected in the type of resources I tend to reach for - and you can trust that it’s the gold standard for true change.

  • You can absolutely expect to walk away with new ways of looking at your health and wellness, multiple different angles to achieve your goals, and ways of going about it that may not have ever crossed your mind. Regardless of the pursuit, this investment and the discussions we have will pay dividends that far exceed this upfront cost for the rest of your life.

I was once told by a client that “time spent in health coaching meetings is one of the few times throughout the week that the focus is finally on themselves … (in a healthy/reflective way)”. The awareness someone may get from solely prioritizing and discussing their goals with a knowledgeable sounding board could be monumental.

As far as the tangible results, every client achieves different levels of success based on the amount of time and energy they put into the process. You get what you give. Not to mention, it’s hard to plan for the chaos that modern life can throw at a well-intended regimen or time-specific goal. But either way, wouldn't you want to navigate the chaos and curve balls with an experienced guide and objective sounding board?

***Take a look at some of the incredible reviews posted on this website from previous clients of mine for a better idea of what people are saying after working together.

  • I recommend clients meet weekly for the first several sessions to build some rapport, momentum and lay a foundation for our joint pursuits. After that, some clients like to spread the meetings out to the max cadence of every other week, while others come to appreciate how long 7 days can feel when learning/applying new habits and choose to stay on the weekly schedule.

Ultimately, I like to remind clients that when you view this process as an investment, it’s great to put focused time and effort in upfront and let the return on investments come later, as opposed to the spread it out to “get my money’s worth” approach.

NOTE: It helps to find a consistent day & time each week to meet so that it’s on ‘autopilot’, schedulewise.

  • One key difference is scope of practice. Doctors are able to diagnose, prescribe, and interpret data; health coaches would be more focused in turning any available information (medical expertise or not) into action. Doctors may be intent on measuring data on someone’s body and providing a potential solution, but not walking beside them to ensure it happens. Health coaches are intent on providing the support, guidance and accountability to elicit the actual change.

Health coaches help clients bridge the gap between knowing what to do and actually doing it—creating sustainable habits and lasting results.

A second defining aspect would be the “patient” vs “client” approach. Most conventional doctors aren’t trained in behavior change or emotional support. They can tell you what to do, but not how to stick with it when motivation fades or life gets messy. That’s why doctors have ‘patients’. A health coach has ‘clients’, and everything that is decided on is done together with realistic, achievable, and agreed upon terms.

Health coaching is a partnered approach that ensures it encompasses the whole person - the mental, emotional, and physical needs of a client.

NOTE: For clients who already have conventional medical information, instruction or lab work, partnering with a health coach creates a powerful, results-driven team. It is a process that is intended to work just as well in tandem or on it’s own!

  • Unfortunately, no. I do not accept health insurance for these packages or meetings at this time.

  • That depends. As of 2024, the IRS guidance recognizes that coaching services may qualify as a covered medical expense if a licensed healthcare provider deems it necessary/beneficial for treating or preventing a specific condition. Officially, the client would need to obtain a Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN) for their doctor and receive approval from the insurance plan administrator.

NOTE: Letters of medical necessity may sound formal and out of the norm but are gaining popularity as providers have found ways to use them for patients’ gym memberships, supplement protocols, extra lab work, and so on. Don’t be afraid to ask!
